Prime Day 2021 PS5 deals highlights

by James Pickard, Commerce Editor

It’s time to take a look back at the Prime Day 2021 PS5 deals highlights. As expected, we didn’t see any PS5 console deals pop up this year due to ongoing stock issues, but there were some great deals on PS5 games, controllers, external hard drives and headsets in this year’s sale to make up for it – although there was a lot less on offer than we were expecting!

You can find the biggest PS5 sale highlights from the 2021 Prime Day are below. If you’re interested in comprising current market prices against what was on offer during Prime Day, you can take a look back at the best 2021 Amazon Prime Day deals on our dedicated hub page.

Prime Day PS5 stock

We would have loved it if there was a PS5 restock during Amazon Prime Day but sadly it didn’t happen. This was despite Amazon adding a new Ratchet & Clank PS5 bundle to to its store in advance of the sale.

Outside of Amazon, the retailers below are worth checking if you’re still after a console, or you can get all the latest updates from our PS5 stock page.

Prime Day PS5 game deals

The PlayStation Days of Play sale gave us an idea of which Amazon Prime Day PS5 deals we might expect to see in advance of this year’s sale. A lot of these titles popped up again in the US Prime Day sale, which meant you could grab Returnal and Demon’s Souls for $50 each. Spider-Man Miles Morales ultimate edition dropped down to $50 in price too.

A lot of Ubisoft titles made an appearance in both the UK and US sales, namely Immortals Fenyx Rising (£21.49/$27.22), Watch Dogs Legion (£21.99) and Assassin’s Creed Valhalla (£29.49/$29.88). As far as PS4 titles are concerned, Final Fantasy 7 Remake was a decent price at £27.99, as was Cyberpunk 2077, which included a limited edition Amazon-exclusive Steel Book for £23.99.

Prime Day PS5 controller deals

Deals on PS5 accessories didn’t blow us away this year, although there were some decent UK-exclusive bundles. You could grab a PS5 DualSense controller with either Sackboy: A Big Adventure or Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales for £79.99, as well as a bundle that included the controller and a Pulse 3D wireless headset for £119.99

Prime Day PS5 SSD deals

We’re still waiting for Sony to confirm which SSDs are compatible with the console’s internal expansion slot, but this year’s Prime Day sale provided a great opportunity to boost your game storage space, as some of the best external hard drives for PS5 were discounted.

Granted, you’ll have to move any PS5 games on an external HDD back to the console’s internal storage in order to play them, but it’ll save you from deleting unplayed games and the tedious wait of redownloading them if you want to pick them up again. Handily, an external drive can be used to run backwards compatible PS4 games, so that will save some space on the internal storage for newer releases.

It’s worth considering one for that use alone, but you can be sure Digital Foundry will be back to bring you the best PS5 SSD once they’ve had a chance to test the compatible options.

Some of the highlights from this year’s sale included the 2TB Samsung 870 EVO for £148.59, the 1TB Crucial X8 portable SSD for £85.99/$94.99, and the 2TB SSD for £162.99/$189.99.

Prime Day PS5 headset deals

Along with the PS5 Pulse 3D Headset, a handful of the best gaming headsets are also compatible with PS5. In the UK, the SteelSeries Arctis 3 headset could be picked up for £51.99 while the Arctis Pro was discounted to £108.99. The Turtle Beach Stealth 600 Gen 2 wireless headset also got a generous discount to £69.99, as did the Stealth 700, which was priced down to £109.99

Two of the best discounts from the US Prime Day sale are still live, and we’ve left links to these below.

Prime Day PS Plus deals

Amazon paired up a 3 month PS Plus and PS Now subscription into a single bundle for £29.99, which provided a decent opportunity to check out the PS now library properly while accessing online multiplayer games with the PS Plus subscription.

Those were the biggest highlights from the PS5 Amazon Prime Day deals. Nothing too exciting, as you can see, so our fingers are crossed we’ll get deeper discounts when Black Friday rolls around.
